Fun, Less Usual Things to Do With Party Balloons

party balloons

Of all the party decorations that are available – and there are an ever-increasing number of those – the one thing that fits in with any party theme at any kind of party is the balloon. Party balloons come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colours and even themes and as they are usually pretty inexpensive they are a great way to create a party atmosphere with ease.

The party balloons you’ll find available online are very versatile in themselves, but if you are up for an (easy) challenge you can make use of them in less usual ways to add an extra unique touch to your next party, whatever it may be. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

Note Balloons

Whatever the occasion, a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation or a celebration of almost any event or milestone, note balloons are an easy and thoughtful way to bring a smile to the celebrants’ face.

The idea is a very simple one. Ask guests, in advance, to compose a few words about the birthday boy/happy couple/new graduate etc. Write each sentiment on a small piece of paper. Next, purchase a number of party balloons – this is your choice here but make sure they are easy to pop. Before you inflate each of them roll one of the notes up and slip it inside.

How you choose to present the note balloons to their recipient(s) is also up to you, but we love the idea of presenting them as a ‘balloon bouquet’, with a note attached to explain their purpose.

Balloons in Balloons

This is a great idea for a more sophisticated party decor scheme – for a wedding for example –  that looks rather complicated but is actually simple to execute.

Choose two sets of party balloons – one in a colour that complements the rest of the decor and one that is clear or frosted and is a slightly larger style. Begin by inflating the larger, clear balloon. Next, using a straw or a small stick, push a second, smaller balloon inside the larger one and then inflate the smaller balloon while it is inside the larger one. You can then tie up the second balloon, leaving the smaller one inside the large balloon.

This is a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s easy to create as many ‘balloons in balloons’ as you need and once displayed the overall effect is truly impressive.

Balloon Ceiling

Balloon arches have been all the rage for the last several years, especially at wedding receptions, but the one thing they can be is hard to create. A balloon ceiling is much easier to assemble and the effect can be even more attractive.

This one really is easy. Simply ensure that the party balloons are filled with helium, and once they are, let them float up to the ceiling of the party space by themselves. The more you add the better of course and using lots of different colours looks great too.
