I\u2019ve spent nearly my entire adult life in this industry\u2014through every high and low. It\u2019s given me purpose, pride, and a community I cherish. However,<\/strong> after forty years of fighting for industry integrity<\/strong>, I now find myself asking a question I never thought I would:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are our industry leaders really supporting us\u2014or quietly dismantling everything we\u2019ve built?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Truth Behind the Smile: Industry or Ego?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The warning signs are no longer subtle. In fact,<\/strong> they\u2019re everywhere. What breaks my heart is watching people with immense power and influence pretend it\u2019s \u201call about the industry,\u201d when deep down we know it couldn\u2019t be further from the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the scenes,<\/strong> behind the smiles, videos, social posts, and corporate hashtags, are individuals and entities who seem to care more about ego, market share, and aggressive profit extraction than about ethics or the long-term health of our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result,<\/strong> they wave the flag while lowering the standard. They talk about professionalism while prioritising volume over quality. They flood the market with cheap, undercut products and call it \u201cprogress.\u201d Meanwhile,<\/strong> it\u2019s costing us everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a respected artist in our field wrote to me recently:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey aren’t interested; they’re just looking to sell, and everything that’s happening is very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

So the question becomes:<\/strong> with so many talented artists either struggling or leaving, what will be left? Are we really going to let the lunatics take over the asylum?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we allow this mindset to dominate, what will be left<\/strong> of the industry we love?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blind Followership: When Silence Becomes Complicity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the real tragedy: thousands of good, well-meaning professionals are following blindly.<\/strong> They hang onto every word from supposed leaders, convinced these actors are the saviours. However, in truth,<\/strong> they\u2019re feeding the very rot that\u2019s poisoning our standards, pride, and professional value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore,<\/strong> we must stop being polite about what\u2019s killing the thing we love. We must stop pretending we don\u2019t see the manipulation. Because<\/strong> silence, at this point, is complicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to Look in the Mirror: Are We Part of the Problem?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The truth? The blame isn\u2019t theirs alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
